Chiropractic Care for the Whole Family

Chiropractic was introduced in 1895 by David D. Palmer in the United States. He discovered that by treating the spine and the nervous system, he could improve dysfunction in the body. We continue this practice today in our Newtown clinic.

As a chiropractor, we want to understand the root of your health issue. By focusing on the nervous system, we optimise the communication and the normal function of your entire body. The body is able to use its own natural response to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.

What is the role of your nervous system?

Your nervous system is composed of your brain, your spinal cord and your nerves. Like a conductor coordinating a symphony, your nervous system helps your body to function properly. It gives constant information to all your cells – organs, muscles, tissues, bones – so you can go about your day free of pain and discomfort.
Through chiropractic care, the health and efficiency of this intricate communication system can be nurtured and enhanced.

What is a chiropractic subluxation?

A subluxation is the improper motion of the bones of the spine (called vertebrae) which interfere with the nerve impulses between the brain and the body.
A subluxation might be caused by:
  • Physical stress: bad posture, exercises done incorrectly, falls, accidents, pregnancy, birthing process
  • Chemical stress: poor diet, pollution, toxic products
  • Emotional stress: family, work, finances, religion, society

When chiropractors treat you, they release the stress that impacts your nervous system. This allows your body to communicate and function at its best!
